THE LAKE PALACE
Often regarded as one of the most beautiful places on earth, The Lake Palace or jag Niwas is mesmerizing to behold. With the white marble palace that rises out of the turquoise waters, The Lake Palace is often said to be the best example of Rajasthani architecture.
THE CITY PALACE
Originally built by Maharana Udai Singh, the present palace is the result of subsequent additions and is the confluence of Medieval, European and Chinese architecture.
LAKE PICHOLA
This artificial lake was created in the year 1362 AD and was built to meet the drinking water problems of the city. Other lakes around the city that give Udaipur the tag of the City of Lakes are Jaisamand Lake, Rajsamand Lake and Fateh Sagar Lake.
Fateh Sagar Lake:
Towards the north of Lake Pichola, is the Fateh Sagar Lake. The manmade lake was dug during the reign of Maharana Jai Singh in 1678. Tourists can enjoy a boat cruise on the lake while taking in the serene surrounds.
Kumbalgarh Fort:
Located at a distance of 64 km from Udaipur, the Kumbalgarh Fort is the second most important fort if Rajasthan, after Chittorgarh. The fort derives its name from Maharana Rana Kumbha who built the fort in the 15th century. Constructed at a height of 1,914 m above sea level, this fort gives tourists a great view of its surroundings.
Sajjangarh Fort:
Built in the 19th century by Maharana Sajjan Singh, the Sajjangarh Fort is perched atop Banswara Hill 5 km to the west of Udaipur. The palace gives a magnificent view of the city during the monsoon and owing to this fort is popularly known as the Monsoon Palace. Visit the palace for that unbridled view of royalty set amidst natural glamour.

Events & Festivals

The Shilpgram Fair or the “Craftsmen’s Village”, is a living museum where enormous diversities of craft, art and culture between various states is displayed.
The Mewar Festival signals the arrival of spring. In Udaipur, it coincides with Gangaur where women gather dressed in traditional garb.
