SpiceJet announces additional flights from Delhi to Amritsar, Bengaluru, Dharamshala and Dehradun to handle summer rush
Growing demand from non-metro stations driving greater deployment and utilization of Bombardier Q400 aircraft

Gurgaon, May 6, 2015: SpiceJet today announced additional flights connecting Delhi to Amritsar, Bengaluru, and Dharamshala for the peak summer period, and to Dehradun until October 24. The Amritsar, Dehradun and Dharamshala flights will be operated by SpiceJet’s Bombardier Q400 aircraft, and the Bangalore flight by Boeing 737s.

With these new flights, frequency of service for the summer will increase from 7 to 13 flights weekly to Dharamshala, from 7 to 14 flights weekly to Amritsar, from 14 to 20 flights weekly to Dehradun, and from 21 to 25 flights weekly to Bengaluru from Delhi.

“The addition of these flights will help meet the increased demand for these increasingly popular destinations, especially in peak season”, said Shilpa Bhatia, SVP and Head of Sales, SpiceJet.

“These flights also demonstrate the commitment SpiceJet has to serving non-metro cities, which we are uniquely positioned to do amongst low-cost airlines due to the flexibility provided by the Q400 aircraft in our fleet”, she added.

“SpiceJet is maximization aircraft utilization as part of its turnaround strategy, and with these new flight additions, we will be flying our Boeing aircraft at an average of 14 block hours, and the Q400 aircraft an average of 12 block hours, a day. We believe these are amongst the most efficient aircraft utilizations for either aircraft type anywhere in the world”, said Sanjiv Kapoor, Chief Operating Officer, SpiceJet.

“Higher aircraft utilization allows us to reduce our unit costs while adding incremental revenue, and such utilization levels are indicative of a very high degree of operational efficiency”, he concluded.

Bookings for these flights are now open.
