SpiceJet tops On-time performance

New Delhi, 21st January, 2014: SpiceJet, India’s second largest low cost airline, was #1 in on-time performance for the month of December 2013, as per DGCA statistics. This is the result of SpiceJet’s renewed focus on delivering superior customer experience, based on the principle of SOCCH: Safe, On-time, Clean, Courteous and Hassle-free.

With total score of 82.2% of flights on-time, SpiceJet was at the top of the list on the parameter of on-time performance (OTP) for December 2013. On-time performance of scheduled domestic airlines is computed by the DGCA for six metro airports viz. Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai.

The airline's best performing airport in terms of OTP was Chennai Airport, where it scored 96.5%. Chennai was followed by Kolkata's Netaji Subhas Chandra International Airport (96.4%).

On the product front, SpiceJet announced the launch of several new and enhanced products and services. SpiceMAX is a priority handling product for passengers who select a premium seat, and offers in addition to the seat, priority check-in at dedicated counters, enhanced 10 kg Hand Baggage allowance, and priority checked baggage handling and delivery.

Also as part of its enhanced focus on premium and corporate customers, SpiceJet will be adding additional premium seats with extra legroom to its Boeing fleet.

SpiceJet also recently launched a frequent flyer offer for corporate travelers called Corporate Frequent Flyer, through which customers booking through corporate accounts will get one free ticket for every six flights, and two for every ten flights.

SpiceJet had earlier announced that it will be launching a cabin refresh program shortly, along with rolling out several enhancements to its in-flight product. These enhancements include an entirely new menu and service delivery model in partnership with top caterers, and an increase in online meal ordering options.

With all of the changes being put into place, SpiceJet is working towards a reinvigorated airline that will see a complete product, service, operational, and performance transformation in 2014, while increasing its network and service offering to more passengers in India and abroad.
