With the Indian aviation grappling with the dearth of quality engineers in the industry, SpiceJet has pioneered a year-long DGCA approved enterprise to roll out industry ready candidates. This apprentice program is a small contribution of SpiceJet towards Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Skill India.

The program which commenced in August 2016 brings onboard raw students from various AME institutes across the country. The students with an average age of 22 have already been exposed to Pratt & Whitney facility in Hyderabad and will in further course visit similar facilities. The trainees were offered a stipend along with the training and on successful completion of the program, they will be offered jobs in SpiceJet.

The extensive training program encompasses three months theory based class room guidance followed by an immediate exposure to on-ground experiential learning in actual environment with e-learning being pursued on an ongoing basis. The training is imparted by industry veterans with an average experience of more than 20 years who have been exposed to all kinds of aircraft (from turboprops to wide-bodied).

On the occasion of the ceremony, Mr. Ajay Singh – CMD, SpiceJet said, “Aviation is one the fastest growing and most exciting sectors in India. The sector can provide huge employment opportunities for skilled professionals.
