Afghanistan's capital and its most important city, Kabul, is fast becoming a flourishing center for trade. From traditional Afghan ensembles to artifacts, shopping in Kabul is diverse. If you're a fervent shopper, you will find great shops at the Kabul City Center. Near the Supreme Tower, the Majid Mall is the largest shopping mall in Afghanistan. If you're looking for souvenirs, Chicken Street has a few stores that stock carpets, carvings, knives etc. Spinneys stocks products and goods for NGO's.

Events & Festivals

  • The festivals form an intrinsic part of the people of Kabul and the are a time of much fanfare among the people
  • Most of the events and festivals in Kabul are completely dependent on the Islamic lunar calendar and hence, the dates of the festivals are not consistent.
  • Eid-Al-Fitr
    Eid-Al-Fitr marks the end of the month of fasting, or Ramadan. The festival is generally celebrated for 3 days through prayers in mosques and visits to relatives and friends.
  • Mawleed Al-Nabi
    Mawleed Al-Nabi marks the birth anniversary of The Holy Prophet. Celebrated on 12 Rabi-ul-Awwal, this holy occasion is marked with feasts and food is often distributed to the poor.
