SpiceJet completes 7 successful years of operations

Confirms that offer for passengers to commemorate airline’s birthday was a success

New Delhi, May 23, 2012: SpiceJet Ltd, India’s most preferred budget airline, received an overwhelming response for its scheme to offer tickets at a special base fare of just Rs 777 (excluding govt. taxes).

The scheme, offered to mark 7th successful anniversary of SpiceJet today, attracted huge traffic on the company’s official website (www.spicejet.com) as well as on customer care numbers and ticketing counters at the airport. We sold 38,967 tickets under this offer.

Due to overwhelming response, our system and telephone lines got congested. We regret the inconvenience caused to passengers who were trying to book the tickets. SpiceJet extended the 77 minute’s offer to 10 am today. The initial offer was open between 7 am to 8:17 am (77 minutes), however, this offer got extended for some more time due to congestion caused by the overwhelming response.

"We are thankful to our all esteemed passengers for their overwhelming response to the offer. Yes, the systems went down for sometime due to the huge traffic on the server but our team managed it and the system was up and running." said SpiceJet CEO Neil Mills.

To celebrate its Birthday, SpiceJet announced a special base fare of just Rs 777 (excluding govt. taxes) for booking tickets on any of its network. On this special fare, fuel surcharge were not charged. The bookings for these special fares are now closed.
